The Intra-ACP [African, Caribbean, Pacific Group of States] Climate Services and Related Applications project is a project sponsored by the European Union and the WMO manages the pacific component. The ‘‘project aims to improve the production, access to and use of climate information, services and applications for decision makers. The project will foster sustainable development through the prevention of desertification, preservation of ecological biodiversity and the sustainable use of water management in ACP countries.’’ (https://public.wmo.int/en/projects/intra-acp-climate-services-and-related-applications)
PSS will be the consultants for the pacific region and will draft the Report Template which once approved by the WMO will be used as the assessment tool for the WMO led project.
The project has several stages to it, which culminates in a Draft Assessment Template and Draft Report which when approved will be the final assessment tool used to ….. A desktop analysis of each of the 15 countries, regions and sub regions will be reviewed and a report made, this would include finings and priorities, areas where there are common techniques/technologies and recommendations around best practice.
National Assessment of X,Y Z
We have now been engaged by WMO to conduct Intra-ACP Assessment for the Pacific SIDS Region which involves identifying priorities for key climate affected sectors including GFCS priority sectors for water, agriculture, health, energy and disaster risk management in 15 Pacific SIDS. This will enable WMO to support a structured interaction among the users, researchers and climate services providers in ACP regions by contributing to the development of User Interface Platforms (UIPs) such as PICOF that allow providers and users of climate services to come together to co-design tailored sectoral climate services. In particular, WMO will lead the coordination of the conception and development of UIPs; support the regional partners in establishing/strengthening the use of regional UIPs for selected priority sectors; and support the regional partners in establishing/strengthening the use of national UIPs.
